Polaris hydro power net news:At 14:30 local time on November 5, 2018, Uganda, Uganda Isimba Hydropower Station constructed by Three Gorges Group water storage startup meeting was successfully completed, and the project leader Wang Yongtian issued the first lowering gate storage operation instruction. At 14:58, with the arc gate of the bottom hole spillway SP1 middle hole slowly falling down, the Isimba Hydropower Station successfully started the lowering of the gate storage, which is a solid step towards the project's This is a solid step for the project to realize the target of commissioning and power generation on schedule.
Through the joint efforts of all construction personnel, the civil engineering, metal structure installation and electromechanical installation works of Isimba Hydropower Station in Uganda have passed the pre-storage acceptance by the owner and consulting engineer. The General Manager Department of the project attaches great importance to the water storage work, organizes all departments and construction units to do a lot of preparatory work before water storage, prepares systematic water storage scheme, formulates detailed contingency plans for various emergencies during water storage, organizes training for all personnel and conducts on-site drills. On the basis of full preparation, the node target of water storage period was realized 10 days ahead of schedule.
Isimba hydroelectric power plant
Isimba Hydropower Station is a bright pearl on the White Nile River and a landmark project for the friendship between China and Uganda. Located in the south of Uganda, 50 kilometers downstream from Lake Victoria, the source of Nile River and the second largest freshwater lake in the world, the hydropower station is the first project constructed in Uganda by China Water Conservancy and Electric Power Corporation Limited (CWCCL), a subsidiary of Three Gorges Group. The project mainly includes: power house, spillway, two gravity link dams, left and right bank rockfill dams and transmission and substation line works. The hydropower plant is equipped with four axial-flow propeller units with a total installed capacity of 183.2 MW and an average annual power generation capacity of 1.039 billion kWh after the completion of the project.

The completion of the Isimba hydropower station will increase Uganda's national installed power capacity by 22 per cent and the total annual power generation by about one quarter, effectively easing the tension in Uganda's power supply, while part of the power can be exported to neighbouring countries. This will vigorously promote Uganda's industrial development, improve the infrastructure of towns and villages, enhance the quality of life of local people, and develop and expand the scale of urbanization.
