Africa's first tallest thin arch dam under construction reaches a new record for the amount of crushed concrete poured in a single silo


According to the official website of China Electric Power Construction (CEPC), 802m-806.5m elevation of Bushanga Hydropower Dam Project in Congo (DRC) was successfully poured, with the volume of 18,365 cubic meters and the continuous lifting height of 4.5 meters, which created a new high volume of single-compartment poured concrete for the double-curved arch dam of Bushanga Hydropower Station. The surface area of this pouring bin is 4100 square meters, which is the largest bin number since the commencement of this project. After 105 hours of day and night struggle by all the project staff, the pouring task was successfully completed, laying a solid foundation for the continuous construction of the subsequent dam's crushed concrete.

      The dam of Busanga Hydropower Station is a parabolic double-curved arch dam, with the elevation of the top of the dam being 885.0 meters, the elevation of the bottom of the dam being 743.5 meters, and the maximum height of the dam being 141.5 meters. It is the highest crushed concrete hyperbolic arch dam project in the world except China, and the second highest hyperbolic arch dam under construction in the world today. The power station hub mainly consists of barrage dam (concrete hyperbolic arch dam), overflow meter hole, flood discharge and sand removal deep hole, water cushion pond, two dams, bank tower intake, diversion tunnel, ground plant and operation village and other buildings. The installed capacity of the power station is 240 MW, the average power generation capacity is 1.320 billion kWh, and the total construction period is planned to be 48 months.

      The concrete production system of Busanga Hydropower Station Dam Project is designed and supplied by Hangzhou Jianghe Equipment Engineering Co., Ltd. and includes 2 sets of HL240-2S3000L mixing buildings, pre-cooling system, aggregate conveying system and powder conveying and storing system, which can satisfy the maximum monthly strength of concrete pouring of about 70,000m³/month, and the temperature of pre-cooled concrete outlet is less than 18°C. The concrete production system of Busanga Hydropower Station Dam Project is designed and supplied by Hangzhou Jianghe Equipment Engineering Co.
