The Baihetan Hydropower Station is located in Ningnan County, Sichuan Province and Qiaojia County, Yunnan Province. It is the second cascade hydropower station developed in the lower reaches of the Jinsha River, mainly for power generation, with comprehensive benefits such as flood control, sediment interception, improvement of downstream navigation 

conditions, and development of reservoir navigation.
