The Julius Nyerere hydropower station project in Tanzania is located on the Rufiji River in southeastern Tanzania, about 350km from Dar es Salaam city and 230km from the estuary. The total installed capacity of the hydropower project is 2115MW, with an annual power generation of 6 billion kWh, making it the largest hydropower station in East Africa and more than doubling Tanzania's power generation capacity. The controlled watershed area above the engineering dam site is 158000 km ². The average annual flow rate is 887.6m ³/s, and the average annual runoff is 27.9 billion m ³. The hub project building includes a 131m high roller compacted concrete gravity main dam, a 22m high roller compacted concrete free overflow weir, and three 5m to 12m high earth rock auxiliary dams. The Tanzania Julius Nyerere hydropower station is equipped with two HZ90-1S1500 forced concrete mixing plants, and 2 sets of 2×4500kN fixed winch hoists. The overall design, production, and commissioning are carried out by Hangzhou Jianghe Mechanical and Electrical Equipment Engineering Co., Ltd.
