The Yewa Hydropower Station is located near Yewa Village in Kyaukse Township, Mandalay Province, central Myanmar. It is 50 kilometers (in a straight line) away from Mandalay City in a northwest direction. The dam is located downstream of Myitnge River, a primary tributary of the Irrawaddy River, with a reservoir area of about 59 square meters and a maximum storage capacity of 2.6 billion cubic meters. The total installed capacity is 790000 kilowatts, consisting of four water turbine generators with a single capacity of 197500 kilowatts. It is the largest hydropower station under construction or already built in Myanmar and will account for about 50% of the country's electricity load.
